'Kuberaa' Producers Declare Film a "Very Different Experience" as Worldwide Release Nears

Hyderabad, Telangana – June 11, 2025Superstar Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna's highly anticipated pan-India film, 'Kuberaa,' directed by Sekhar Kammula, is poised to be a cinematic "game-changer," according to producers Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao. The duo recently shared insights into the making of the film during a press conference, expressing immense confidence in its emotional depth and unique appeal ahead of its global release on June 20th.

'Kuberaa' has already generated significant buzz with its promotional content, including chart-topping songs like "Poyiraa Mama," "Trance of Kuberaa," and "Pee Pee Dum Dum." Produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under SVCLLP, in collaboration with Sekhar Kammula's Amigos Creations1 Pvt Ltd, the film boasts high budgets and production values. It will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

From Idea to Pan-India Phenomenon: The Genesis of 'Kuberaa'

Producers revealed that the 'Kuberaa' project materialized when Sekhar Kammula approached them with the idea after his successful 'Love Story.' "Sekhar Garu felt Dhanush Garu would be perfect for this story, and after a mere 20-minute narration, Dhanush Garu immediately signed on," Suniel Narang explained.

The producers emphasized the organic evolution of the stellar cast. "Dhanush Garu is a pan-India star, having done films in Hindi as well. Nagarjuna Garu has also been in Hindi cinema for a long time. And everyone knows Rashmika Garu's popularity across India. We cast such big stars specifically to suit the demands of the story," said Puskur Ram Mohan Rao. He added, "Dhanush Garu, Nagarjuna Garu, and Rashmika Garu all supported us tremendously." While primarily a straight Telugu and Tamil film, 'Kuberaa' will be dubbed and released in Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Narang confirmed, "The first copy is already ready. The film has turned out fantastically."

Sekhar Kammula's Distinctive Vision: A Conflict of Extremes

Addressing Sekhar Kammula's first collaboration with such a prominent star cast, producers noted his unique approach. "Sekhar Kammula Garu is a director we admire greatly. His film 'Leader,' no matter how many times you watch it, always feels fresh. This time, with an even bigger star cast, he is sure to offer audiences a very new and different experience," they stated.

They highlighted Kammula's focus on character over star image: "Sekhar Kammula Garu is a filmmaker who sees stars as characters first. In this film too, you will see characters come alive on screen."

When asked about the central conflict of 'Kuberaa,' producers revealed an intriguing premise: "The conflict lies between the richest man in the world and the poorest man in the streets." They confirmed that the emotional core of the story, a hallmark of Sekhar Kammula's cinema, is what truly excited them about the project. "Sekhar Garu makes films that touch audiences with strong emotions and a palpable feel. This film is no different. The emotions in it will deeply connect with the audience," they affirmed.

Challenges of Reality and a Grand Release Strategy

Filming 'Kuberaa' presented its own set of challenges, particularly due to the extensive use of real locations. "Shooting in real locations is always a challenge. For this film, we shot entirely in real locations—real slums, garbage dumps, and dumping yards. Shooting in Mumbai's real streets was another significant challenge," producers admitted. Despite these hurdles, they emphasized their commitment to quality: "We never worried about the budget. We made sure to allocate whatever budget was necessary for the content, without compromising anywhere."

'Kuberaa' is set for a grand release across approximately 1600 screens worldwide. "We are very confident that the film will have fantastic openings," they stated.

Casting Decisions and Musical Brilliance

The producers also discussed how Nagarjuna came onboard: "We had always wanted to work with Nagarjuna Garu. For this particular role, Sekhar Garu couldn't envision anyone else. Nag Sir loved the story and acted magnificently. His performance is so powerful that you cannot imagine anyone else in that role."

Praising the film's music, they remarked, "Devi Sri Prasad is an amazing music director. He has given very different songs for this film, and the background score has also turned out wonderfully. Dhanush Garu has sung two songs, which was a collective decision by the director and Devi Sri Prasad."

Regarding distribution, they clarified that the Tamil version has been given to a distributor named Rahul.

Future Ventures and Nurturing New Talent

Suniel Narang also touched upon his daughter Janhvi's aspirations in production: "Certainly. She has a great interest in film production and is very active." He added that his brother's son also shares an interest in production.

Looking ahead, the producers confirmed another project with Sekhar Kammula, though the lead actor for that film is yet to be finalized. They expressed a commitment to making good, content-driven films and providing opportunities to as many newcomers as possible through their production house.
