Superstar Rajinikanth's highly anticipated action thriller, 'Coolie,' is already making massive waves in the pre-release market, with its Telugu theatrical rights reportedly acquired for a staggering ₹45 crore. This significant deal, secured by prominent producers Asian Suniel Narang, Suresh Babu, and Dil Raju, underscores the immense buzz surrounding the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial in the Telugu-speaking states.
'Coolie,' which promises to showcase the 70-year-old Tamil superstar in a power-packed action role, is slated for a grand worldwide release on August 14th. The film has generated considerable excitement not just in its home state of Tamil Nadu, but also across major Telugu territories, leading to this record-setting rights acquisition. While formalization of the deal is still pending, it is poised to become one of the most expensive agreements for any Tamil film in the Telugu market.
'Coolie' is set for a multi-lingual theatrical release, extending beyond its original Tamil version. It will also be released in Hindi, targeting audiences particularly in Northern India. Recently the makers has released Hindi title poster for the film, renamed as 'Majadoor' for Hindi-speaking audiences.
The film is reportedly being made on a colossal budget of ₹350 crores. This impressive figure includes the individual remunerations of both director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Superstar Rajinikanth. Exclusive reports suggest that Rajinikanth is receiving an upfront pay cheque of ₹150 crores, marking one of the highest fees ever for an actor. Lokesh Kanagaraj, on the other hand, has reportedly commanded a fee of ₹50 crores, a significant achievement for a filmmaker, reflecting his rising stature in the industry.
