The recently released crime drama “Mutton Soup”, directed by Ramachandra Vattikuti, has been receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from audiences since its release on October 10. Produced by Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal), Arun Chandra Vattikuti, and Ramakrishna Sanapala under the banners Aluka Studios, Sri Varahi Arts, and Bhavishya Vihar, the film features Raman, Varsha Vishwanath, and Gemini Suresh in the lead roles.

In an interaction with the media, producer Mallikharjuna Elika shared his personal journey, creative experiences, and reflections on the film’s success.

From Tirupati to Filmmaking

Sharing about his background, Mallikharjuna revealed that though he hails from Tirupati, it was Hyderabad that connected him deeply to the film industry.
“Cinema has been my passion since childhood. I started with short films and gained experience in different departments. My short film ‘Badi Pantulu’ even won a state-level award,” he noted. The producer emotionally added that while fulfilling his late mother’s wish to see his name on the big screen brings joy, it also carries a tinge of sadness that she isn’t here to witness it.

After years of learning acting, direction, and screenwriting, Mallikharjuna transitioned from behind-the-scenes work to full-fledged film production.

The Start of ‘Mutton Soup’

Recounting how the project took shape, he said, “I was working on a horror film as a director when I met Ramachandra. His hard work and commitment deeply impressed me.” Initially joining Mutton Soup as a co-director, he soon decided to also take on the role of producer, driven by confidence in the director’s vision.

Challenges and Creative Approach

Since Mutton Soup is inspired by real events, crafting the story into an exciting cinematic experience was a challenge.
“Everyone knew the incident, so retaining curiosity was tough. We reinvented the storytelling through a gripping screenplay and edit pattern. The final version of Mutton Soup was truly born at the editing table, not just on paper,” he explained.

Cast and Crew Contributions

The producer expressed gratitude toward the team, praising Raman for his unwavering support and calling Varsha Vishwanath and Gemini Suresh highly cooperative co-actors. He also acknowledged Govind Srinivas, Shivaraj, SRK, Charan, Kiran, Gopal Maharshi, Sunita Manohar, Master Vihar, and Kiran Medasani for their dedication.

On the technical side, he highlighted Venky Veena’s music and BGM, noting that the songs enhanced the emotional tone of the film. The work of Bharadwaj and Phanindra in cinematography brought the visuals to life.
“The technical team became the backbone of Mutton Soup. Their combined effort is what made the film so impactful,” he said.

Audience Reaction and Gratitude

Speaking about the film’s reception, Mallikharjuna said, “We’re truly overwhelmed. The audience is appreciating the tight screenplay and creative approach to a crime-based story. Their response makes us forget all the struggles we went through.”

Future Endeavors

Looking ahead, the producer revealed that he is already working on a horror film as a director while also developing multiple projects with emerging talent. Another collaboration with director Ramachandra is in the pipeline, with details to be announced soon.

With Mutton Soup striking a chord with both critics and audiences, Mallikharjuna Elika (Gopal) is now poised to balance his dual roles as director and producer, bringing more meaningful and engaging cinema to Telugu audiences.
