Kollywood star Suriya has officially begun work on his much-awaited 47th film, tentatively titled Suriya47, directed by Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame and backed by Zhagaram Studios. The film features Nazriya Nazim as the female lead, with rising Malayalam actor Naslen playing a crucial role, adding to the project’s strong pan-South appeal.
The movie was launched in Chennai with a traditional pooja ceremony, formally marking the start of filming and this fresh collaboration between Suriya and Jithu. Cast, crew, and industry well-wishers attended the event, setting an auspicious tone before the team rolled into the first shooting schedule.
The launch was graced by notable guests including producer Jyotika, actor Karthi, Rajsekar Pandian from 2D Entertainment, and producers S.R. Prakash and S.R. Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures, all extending their wishes for the film’s success. Speaking about the project, director Jithu Madhavan described it as a “new industry and new beginning” with a star like Suriya and hinted that the team is attempting “something new” in terms of storytelling and treatment.
The ensemble cast also includes John Vijay, Anandaraj, and other familiar faces, strengthening the film’s character lineup. On the technical front, Vineeth Unni Palode handles cinematography, Sushin Shyam is on board as music director, Ashwini Kale oversees production design, Ajmal Sabu takes care of editing, and Chetan D Souza is roped in as stunt master, promising stylish action and rich visual craft.
With filming now underway and expectations already high, Suriya47 is positioned as one of the most keenly followed projects in Suriya’s lineup, with more updates expected as the shoot progresses.
