A Father’s Uncompromised Love for Cinema: Producer Battula Koteswara Rao Talks About Introducing His Son with 'Purushaha'

As the countdown begins for the highly anticipated summer family comedy-drama "Purushaha," producer Battula Koteswara Rao interacted with the media to share his deeply emotional and inspiring journey into the world of filmmaking. Ambitiously bankrolled under the Kalyan Productions banner and presented by Battula Saraswathi, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical arrival this Friday, May 22, 2026.

Directed by Veeru Vulavala, the movie officially introduces newcomer Pavan Kalyan Battula in the lead role, supported by a stellar ensemble comic cast including Saptagiri, Kasireddy Raj Kumar, and Vennela Kishore.

From Guntur to Tollywood: Fulfilling a Long-Cherished Dream

Hailing from a non-filmy background in Karampudi, Guntur district, Koteswara Rao opened up about his transition from construction to cinema:

  • The Inspiration Behind the Name: The passionate producer revealed that his deep admiration for Power Star Pawan Kalyan began during the Gokulamlo Seetha era. He had resolved back then that if he ever had a son, he would name him after his idol. Coincidentally, his son was born during the release of the cult classic Thammudu, and was named Pavan Kalyan.

  • Overcoming Shyness Through Craft: Explaining the core motivation behind launching his son, Rao shared, "Becoming a cinema hero was my personal dream, and I wanted to fulfill it through my son. Pavan used to be extremely introverted and shy. I firmly believed that stepping into the creative world of acting would help him break out of his shell and shed his hesitation."

A Clean, Relatable Love Story with Zero Commercial Greed

Rao emphasized that Purushaha was born out of a clean passion for storytelling rather than commercial greed. Introduced to director Veeru Vulavala by master cinematographer Satish Muthyala, Rao was instantly captivated by the unique narrative structure and a beautiful central love story.

"I didn't make this film to chase astronomical profits or showcase forced grandeur. I wanted a clean film that would appeal to audiences across all segments," the producer asserted, adding that the entire crew converted their real estate construction office into their functional movie headquarters to maintain a grounded environment.

A Stellar Ensemble and a Grand 300-Theater Release

The producer poured rich praise on his powerhouse cast and crew for driving the film's entertainment quotient:

  • The Comic Anchors: Rao noted that VTV Ganesh will leave audiences in splits with his hilarious performance, while Vennela Kishore expertly drives the primary conflict of the plot. He further lauded Saptagiri and Kasireddy for anchoring the comedy tracks, alongside special appearances by veteran lyricist Ananth Sriram and seasoned actor Rajeev Kanakala.

  • The Musical Palette: The film’s soundtrack, composed by Shravan, has already turned into a major chartbuster, specifically boasting a prestigious track recorded by Academy Award-winning composer M.M. Keeravani.

Moving away from routine logistical struggles, Rao praised the entire production unit—from light men to drivers—for managing resources smoothly and protecting their budget like their own.

Positioned as the ultimate summer stress-buster where audiences can simply sit back, relax, and laugh, Purushaha is tracking a massive release across nearly 300 theaters. To capitalize on the skyrocketing buzz, the makers have also locked widespread special premieres across both Telugu states starting May 21st. Looking ahead, the committed father concluded by stating he has promised to back three consecutive films to give his son a fair ground to prove his mettle before deciding on future career paths.
