"Capturing the Unseen Mental Agony" – Dr. Brahmanandam Praises Brahmaji
Exploring one of the most taboo, unarchived, and emotionally taxing professions in human society, the official trailer for the gritty realistic drama Hangman was formally unveiled on Tuesday. Helmed by debutant director Vihaan and starring veteran actor Brahmaji in a career-defining lead role, the premium feature film has locked its exclusive digital streaming debut on Sun NXT starting July 3, 2026.
The high-profile trailer launch event was graced by comedy legend Padma Shri Dr. Brahmanandam, acclaimed filmmaker Nandini Reddy, and public figure Addanki Dayakar as chief guests.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Brahmanandam expressed deep fascination with the film's core concept, noting that the title itself drew him to support the project:
"I honestly do not even know what kind of category to place this profession in. We often wonder, what does the life of an executioner look like? What is his severe mental agony after taking a life under administrative orders? Director Vihaan has captured that dark psychological layer beautifully. Brahmaji is an incredibly deep actor who can anchor any character, and I have always felt he hasn’t received the absolute heavy roles he deserves. Hangman will rewrite that trajectory."
From a Boutique Short Film to a Real-Life Inspired Feature
Acclaimed director Nandini Reddy highly commended producer Ajay Mysore for backing an unconventional script that mainstream commercial banners usually steer clear of, predicting that Vihaan will emerge as a distinct voice in alternative cinema.
Detailing the extensive structural research that went into the script, director Vihaan revealed that the film's core foundation was built upon long discussions with a real-life professional executioner named Pawan, who attended the launch event to support the team.
The Evolution of the Script: Editor Karthik revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail, noting that Hangman was originally envisioned by Vihaan as a tight short film layout. However, recognizing the intense depth of the characters and the cinematic atmosphere designed by DOP Uday Gurrala, Brahmaji stepped in to support the team, transforming the indie script into a full-scale digital feature film.
Representing Sun NXT, Shashi Kiran Narayan (daughter of the late legendary actor M.S. Narayana) confirmed that the platform is aggressively hunting for unique, high-concept regional narratives to give a massive platform to independent indie filmmakers, making Hangman their flagship release for the post-monsoon July weekend.
