Decentralizing Cinema: How Godavarikhani’s Kotha Cinema Brought 100 Local Faces to the Silver Screen!
Challenging the long-held notion that filmmaking belongs exclusively to major metropolitan studios, debut filmmaker Azhar has crafted a truly homegrown cinematic experiment titled Kotha Cinema. Rooted deep within the coal-mining belt of Godavarikhani (Singareni), the indie venture proudly introduces around 100 local newcomers to the Telugu film industry across various on-screen and behind-the-scenes roles.
To celebrate this grassroots filmmaking movement, the team organized a special promotional event in Hyderabad titled "Why in Hyderabad, Why Not in Our Place?", drawing enthusiastic support and praise from veteran directors, producers, and film critics.
