Power, Politics & Survival in Bundelkhand: Tigmanshu Dhulia Pitches Pratik Gandhi Against a Menacing Arshad Warsi in Ghamasaan!

Continuing their push for gritty, content-driven cinema, streaming platform Zee 5, in collaboration with Jio Studios and Golden Ratio Films, has officially unveiled the trailer for their upcoming crime thriller Ghamasaan. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia (Paan Singh Tomar, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster), the raw drama features Pratik Gandhi, Arshad Warsi, and Ishita Dutta in lead roles.

Having made waves across premier global circuits including the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Cinevesture International Film Festival, and the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, the film is set for an exclusive direct-to-digital premiere on Zee 5 on September 11, 2026.

A Relentless Cop vs. A Legendary Outlaw: Inside the Trailer

The 1-minute-53-second trailer plunges viewers straight into the unforgiving badlands of Bundelkhand, where lines between state power and outlaw justice blur into blood and dust:

  • Arshad Warsi as the Dreaded 'Maharaj': In a departure from his light-hearted and satirical avatars, Arshad Warsi embraces sheer darkness and raw unpredictability as Maharaj—a feared outlaw who has evaded the law and ruled the ravines from the jungle for over 25 years.
  • Pratik Gandhi as the Resolute STF Officer: Playing Aditya, a fearless Special Task Force (STF) officer tasked with curbing the outlaw's reign ahead of high-stakes elections, Pratik Gandhi delivers a passionate, grounded performance. As Aditya digs deeper, he realizes his hunt isn't just against an elusive criminal, but against a compromised and deeply entrenched political ecosystem.
  • Beyond the Cop-and-Robber Tropes: True to Tigmanshu Dhulia’s signature style, the conflict trades formulaic heroics for moral complexity, portraying a high-stakes survival struggle where everyone operates in shades of grey.

What the Team Had to Say

  • Director Tigmanshu Dhulia: "The Hindi heartland and the complexities that shape its people have always fascinated me. At its core, 'Ghamasaan' is about the collision of two completely different worldviews on justice and authority. Both Arshad and Pratik have brought raw conviction and intensity to these characters."
  • Actor Arshad Warsi: "Playing Maharaj allowed me to step into dark, unpredictable territory as an actor. It was a demanding headspace to inhabit, but surrendering to Tigmanshu’s vision made the experience incredibly rewarding."
  • Actor Pratik Gandhi: "Aditya's journey starts with the singular goal of catching an outlaw, but escalates when he realizes he's up against an entire systemic web. Sharing screen space with Arshad and working under Tigmanshu sir was an enriching experience."
  • Writer & Producer Piiyush Singh (Golden Ratio Films): "In Bundelkhand, this is not just a chase—it is a fierce collision between a man hunting with the weight of justice and another ruling with the fire of rebellion. 'Ghamasaan' is unvarnished storytelling that refuses to look away."
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta, Ashwini Chaudhary (Golden Ratio Films), and Miten Shah (Yaelstar Films), Ghamasaan anchors Zee 5’s diverse new content slate alongside upcoming originals like Sumo Didi and Ikroop.
