Commercial Courtroom Drama ‘Due Date’ Rolls Out Regular Shoot in Hyderabad
Fresh off an auspicious pooja ceremony, the upcoming Telugu courtroom drama ‘Due Date’ has officially gone on floors today in Hyderabad. Featuring Lomesh Pudipeddi and Jayashree as the lead pair, the project is helmed by director Anand K. and bankrolled jointly by Pawan Tharigopula and prominent film PRO-turned-producer Eluru Sreenu under the Varish Studios banner.
The unit has commenced a brisk 15-day opening schedule across various prime locations in the city, canning crucial scenes involving the lead actors and the primary ensemble.
A High-Stakes Legal Battle Built on Everyday Anxieties
Courtroom dramas in Telugu cinema thrive when rooted in conflicts that resonate with common households. With Due Date, the makers aim to tap into that very pulse by blending legal fireworks with a relatable middle-class premise.
Speaking about the project's vision, producers Pawan Tharigopula and Eluru Sreenu shared:
"The phrase 'due date' is something almost every middle-class citizen anticipates or dreads every single month. We have woven an intense commercial legal battle around this contemporary, burning issue that affects common people daily. From the title to the narrative beats, our goal is to offer a grounded, novel premise packaged with sharp commercial ingredients."
They further highlighted the film's tone:
"The screenplay maintains a gripping, edge-of-the-seat tension inside the courtroom while ensuring the emotional core outside of it strikes a genuine chord. We are confident that Due Date will not only entertain and provoke thought but also deliver a thoroughly engaging theatrical experience."
Solid Ensemble on Board
Alongside Lomesh Pudipeddi and Jayashree, the project features Praneetha Patnaik (C/o Kancharapalem fame) and Vignani in substantive character parts. Veteran comedian and character actor Krishna Bhagavan adds his trademark comic presence and dramatic heft to the narrative.
With the first schedule progressing at a rapid pace, the production house plans to wrap up talkie portions in continuous stretches before unveiling the first-look posters and technical crew lineup.
