Vaishnav Tej and Kriti Shetty made their debut as the lead actors in the Telugu film "Uppena," which turned out to be a massive success despite featuring newcomers in the lead roles. Produced under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Buchi Babu, the film collected more than hundred crores at the box office.
There were earlier attempts to remake "Uppena" in Tamil, but they didn't materialize. However, recent reports suggest that there is an intriguing campaign going on in Tamil media circles to remake the film with Tamil superstar Vijay's son Sanjay as the lead actor.
Although Sanjay expressed his desire to enter the industry as a director first, a prominent producer is reportedly keen to introduce him as a hero through Vijay. The producer has already secured the remake rights for "Uppena" and has had several discussions with Sanjay, who has worked as a child artist in many films and is currently pursuing a filmmaking course.
While some have reportedly advised Sanjay to pursue a career as both an actor and director, he is currently focused on directing. It remains to be seen whether Uppena will agree to act in the remake at this point in time. However, if Sanjay agrees to act in the film, Kriti Shetty is rumored to be the leading lady.
