Jio Cinema is taking its competitors to cleaners. That's what everyone is going to say now. The OTT platform has struck a multi-year deal with Warner Bros and HBO to stream flagship content such as 'Succession' and 'Game of Thrones' in India. Its slate of prime offerings is going to also include the yet-to-be-streamed Harry Potter Series (through an agreement with Viacom18).
The deal is groundbreaking. "Jio Cinema now enjoys a significant competitive edge in the Indian streaming market, given the vast and loyal fan base of the Warner Bros and HBO content. Overall, this development is likely to provide Indian viewers with more diverse and high-quality entertainment options," opined an entrepreneur named Nikhil.
As is known Jio Cinema already owns IPL rights for the coming five years. Paramount is also up for a launch in India later this Summer in collaboration with Jio.
