An AI-generated 'movie' clip has so far amassed millions and millions of views on social media. Chase Curtis, a Twitter user, put out the clip and wrote, "Hollywood is done for – you might not believe me, but this is AI-generated." Just via the user's tweet, the clip has been watched 3.1 million times. The tweet's impressions so far have clocked more than 14 million views.
Although many are flabbergasted watching the Artificial Intelligence-generated 'movie' clip, others are laughing at the "plastic quality" of the video. With such artificiality, AI can hardly replace man-made movies, critics are contending. "Everyone is dunking on the uncanny visuals and mangled hands (seen in the video). I haven't seen AI produce anything that rivals the human capacity for creativity or storytelling," a Twitter user shot back.
Michael Allison disputes the idea that AI is creative. "AI can't produce anything. What you are seeing is human capacity limited by tools. Saying AI made this is like saying a keyboard typed this. Tools cannot work without human input. Creativity is equal to getting what is in your head out of it," he writes.
