'The Kerala Story' on Friday netted more than Rs 8 Cr upon its theatrical release in India. The figure is more than double that of 'The Kashmir Files' on Day 1.
The Bollywood film's premise and a few plot points are similar to those of the Netflix series 'Caliphate', which was released in 2020.
"Three to four non-Muslim girls convert to Islam through their male college friends. Then they are brainwashed to join ISIS, and then they marry ISIS men. Some of them want to escape, while some of them become braindead to stay in the ISIS territories," writes Zahack Tanvir about 'Caliphate'.
Starring Adah Sharma ('Kshanam' fame) as an ISIS bride, 'The Kerala Story' also features Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, Siddhi Idnani, Vijay Krishna, Pranay Pachauri, and Pranav Mishra.
Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film's music is by Viresh Sreevalsa.
