Veteran actor Sarath Babu is no more

Sarath Babu, who acted in more than 200 films in multiple languages (including Hindi), breathed his last on Monday. He was 71. Multi-organ failure is attributed as the reason for his demise by a team of doctors at AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad.

A recipient of eight state Nandi Awards, Sarath Babu was married to his industry colleague and artist Rama Prabha for 14 years. In 1990, he married Sneha Nambiar and eventually divorced her as well.

Sarath Babu, as an adolescent, dreamed of becoming a cop. Imperfect eyesight made him opt out of those aspirations. He later took the plunge as an actor although his hotelier-father wanted him to run the family business. Eventually, he came to be known as 'Sahaja Natudu'.

His ETV serial 'Antharangalu', among others, kept him busy for several years after film offers got reduced in number.

Sarath Babu was non-controversial despite allegations against him by Rama Prabha, his first wife. In an interview, Sarath Babu claimed that he was too naive to take the right decision when he married Rama Prabha, who was 6-7 years older than him in age.

His last film is 'Malli Pelli', which hits the screens on May 26.
