Om Raut the director, who made Tanhaji with Ajay Devgan wanted the star to do the lead role. But Ajay did not feel he would pull off the role of Ram and suggested Prabhas's name.
T-Series has produced this film on a budget of 400 crores. But as the teaser was trolled big time, the makers postponed the film and spent an extra 100 crores on the VFX part. So the budget for the film is 500 crores.
Kriti Sanon was not the first choice to play the female lead in the film. Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma, and Keerthy Suresh were approached but as they did not show interest, Om Raut went with Kriti Sanon and locked her in.
Prabhas has been paid a whopping 100 crores for the film and not many know that he is also sharing profits from the film's collections. So, if the film is a hit, Prabhas might get close to 50 crores extra.
Om Raut the director was inspired by the 1992 animation film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama and wrote Adipurush. The theatrical rights of Telugu states have been locked at 150 crores and the film needs to make big money on day one to be in the safe zone.
