It is an open secret that Thalapathy Vijay wants to make a foray into politics. Superstar Rajinikanth has missed the bus, but the 'Sarkar' actor doesn't want to.
On Saturday, the 'Bigil' actor is in the news for delivering a speech laced with political commentary at a meeting in Chennai. The event was organized by one of his fan clubs. While the event was meant to felicitate three top-rank holders in SSLC and HSC exams from 234 assembly constituencies of Tamil Nadu, the Kollywood superstar used the opportunity to deliver a political speech.
The 'Leo' actor advised students to dissuade their parents from taking money from political parties at the time of elections. He gently lunged against the abuse of money power in politics by saying that MLA candidates notoriously spend up to Rs 15 Cr in each assembly constituency. The wannabe politician attributed the rampant corruption to humongous election spend.
Vijay has so far shown little evidence that he is knowledgeable about public policy. But some surveys say that he enjoys vast support among youngsters and can become a force to reckon with in politics.
