On Wednesday, marking Nandamuri Kalyanram's birthday, the actor's 21st movie was announced. Producers Ashok Muppa and Sunil Balusu described NKR21 as the biggest movie in Kalyanram's career in terms of budget.
The makers are clearly trusting Kalyanram's crowd-pulling abilities more than the film's director. The director is Pradeep Chilukuri, who made 'Raja Cheyyi Vesthe' in 2016. The film, starring Nara Rohit and others, was a damp squib in terms of content. The film critics and audience who were unfortunate to watch it were left with a pounding headache after the show.
Nowadays, some producers are extremely daring. Kalyanram's 'Bimbisara' was made by a new director. It worked wonders. Such wonders happen only once or twice in five years. Kalyanram has now entrusted a flop director to helm his career's most expensive movie. One wonders what is the source of confidence! NTR Arts is associated with the project.
The Nandamuri actor faced a huge setback earlier this year when 'Amigos' flopped heavily. 'Devil', to be released later this year, could undo some of the reverses.
