Rajasekhar, Jeevitha sentenced to jail for targeting Chiranjeevi's activities

There was a time when Megastar Chiranjeevi used to face criticism on a regular basis after he stepped into politics in 2008. The activities at the Chiranjeevi Blood Bank in Hyderabad were the main target of his political opponents. Many individuals alleged that the blood bank was not a non-profit organization but a commercial venture guilty of unethical activities. Their allegations could never be established.

At that time, actor Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha joined the critics to make allegations against the blood bank. They were routinely speaking against Chiranjeevi and even Pawan Kalyan at pressers. The Rajasekhar-Jeevitha duo were open supporters of the YS Rajasekhar Reddy government.

The couple, in 2011, said that the Chiranjeevi Blood Bank was witness to irregularities. Allu Aravind took umbrage and hit back at the duo at a presser. Later, he took legal steps to teach them a lesson. He filed a defamation case under relevant sections of the IPC.

More than 12 years later, a Nampally court has adjudged that Rajasekhar and Jeevitha are guilty of defamation. They have been sentenced to a one-year jail term, besides a fine of Rs 5 lakh. They have since secured bail.
