'Slum Dog Husband', starring Sanjay Rao as the male lead, will hit the screens on July 29. The comedy entertainer marks the debut of the 19-year-old Pranavi Manukonda, the Telugu-speaking child artist from popular titles such as 'Uyyala Jampala'. The young artist, who is an undergraduate, was earlier this year seen as Nandamuri Kalyanram's sister in 'Amigos' but the film's failure didn't fetch her any recognition.
This Saturday's release is Pranavi's biggest bet. "I have done TV stints before. Upon the advice of some well-wishers, I stopped appearing in TV serials for about 18 months before transitioning to cinema. The intention was to make filmmakers believe that I am not a TV serial actress. The script of 'Slum Dog Husband' literally had me laughing out loud. I decided to make my lead debut with the comedy," says Pranavi.
The budding actress is followed by about 1.4 million users on Instagram. "I have received love and support from Netizens. I cater to them by making posts on a regular basis," says Pranavi, who is thankful that her parents encouraged her acting dreams. Anushka Shetty's stellar performance in 'Arundhati' was her biggest inspiration when she was a child.
