‘800’, the biopic of former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan, is back in the news after courting controversies in 2020 and 2021. It was supposed to be headlined by Vijay Sethupathi. The 'Uppena' actor was threatened by Periyarist and other narrow-minded Tamil groups against playing a Sri Lankan cricketer despite being a Tamilian. He left the project. Madhur Mittal has played Muralitharan. The film is going to be released in theatres in October.
The film's theatrical trailer will be out this Tuesday in multiple languages (read Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English). A glitzy event will be held in Mumbai to release the trailer. Sachin Tendulkar will be present as the chief guest.
The film will have a good release in Hindi. In Telugu, it might get a decent release thanks to producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad owning the release rights. Everything will depend on the competition factor at the box office. If straight Telugu films are slated to be released on that day, '800' will find it tough to dominate.
The film, co-starring Mahima Nambiar and Nassar, has music composed by Ghibran.
