It is known that SS Rajamouli and his father Vijayendra Prasad are in the good book of the BJP-led central government. The fact that Vijayendra Prasad was given the Rajyasabha ticket in 2022 on BJP's behalf shows the same.
Today, Rajamouli has announced a new biopic with the name "Made In India" and he seemed pretty excited about the same. "When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it..:) With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA…" He tweeted about this project.
This film has a truly pan Indian appeal as it is based on the inception of the Indian cinema, as an entity. So, it is expected to have a fairly good run at the pan Indian belt.
Of late, the BJP government had developed he habit of lapping up nationalist films. In a way, Made In India has a nationalist vibe as it covers the surge of Indian cinema, as an entity. Films like these can be largely benefited with additional push from Hindi camps.
Rajamouli had already tapped into the North Indian market with the presentation of "Ram" character in the film which was likened to Lord Sri Ram character by Hindutva groups. Can he emulate a similar feat with Made In India, a film that he is presenting? We shall wait and see.
Perhaps Rajamouli is better off naming this film Made In Bharath, given the BJP government's inclination to rename India as Bharath. if Rajamouli does that, then this film is sure to get BJP's support in the North belt.
