Journalist insults actress' looks, director hits back

Malayalam actress Nimisha Sajayan was recently seen in the Tamil hits 'Jigarthanda DoubleX' and Siddharth-starrer 'Chiththa'. The actress came in for an insulting remark by a Kollywood journalist at a presser on Friday. The scribe happened to ask director Karthik Subbaraj why Nimisha was cast when she is not beautiful. The 'Jigarthanda' and 'Peta' director hit back at him for his mindset.

Netizens have come out in her defence and also lauded the director for standing up for his actress. "Nimisha Sajayan is a very beautiful and confident woman and is one of the best acting talents in Indian cinema right now. Glad Karthik Subbaraj called that journalist out for asking that question. It is high time we retire that 'conventional good looks' line of questioning," a Netizen wrote.

"Society and its mindset towards female actors just keep stooping low every day. Nimisha is one of the most beautiful and talented actresses out there. Do your research and then pick the mic," said another Twitter user.

Many cine buffs reminded the scribe that the relation between beauty and talent is non-existent. "Nonsense question. So many average-looking girls are better actors nowadays," an angry Twitter user wrote.
