'Calling Sahasra' hit the screens this Friday alongside Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal'. The film, starring 'Jabardasth' fame Sudigali Sudheer, is on its way to becoming one of the biggest disasters of the year.
A mystery thriller with a supernatural element, 'Calling Sahasra' suffers from amateurish execution, lazy narration and a host of insincere performers who sleepwalk through their roles. Sudheer, otherwise known for comedy, consciously chose this movie to establish himself as a serious actor (that's why he rebranded himself as Sudheer Anand). Quite to the contrary, his performance in the film is unintentionally hilarious.
Sudheer's career might stand affected, considering the film is staring at cancelled shows on Saturday owing to its poor content and the monstrous competitor in place: 'Animal'. The comedian's career was looking up after last year's entertainer 'Gaalodu'. Although that film was barely watchable, the comedy factor helped it scrape through somehow. 'Calling Sahasra', on the other hand, is a comprehensive dud.
One has to see how Sudheer will plan his moves after this. His contemporaries like Saptagiri and Shakalaka Shankar stopped playing lead roles after making terrible choices. Sampoornesh Babu has been going slow after burning his hands by doing a couple of stupid entertainers like 'Cauliflower' and 'Bazar Rowdy'.
