'RAZAKAR' will be released in Telugu, Hindi and other languages on March 1. The film has been produced by Gudur Narayana Reddy and directed by Yata Satyanarayana. Its trailer was released today at an event in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, guest and legendary director K Raghavendra Rao said that the film is relevant because youngsters need to know about the history of Nizams and their militia, the Razakar army. "Knowing history is one thing. Knowing it in the form of visuals is another thing. That's what a film does. But for Sardar Vallabhai Patel, we wouldn't have been stable today," he added.
Writer JK Bharavi said that the quality of the film is awesome. "This film has the potential to raise the stature of the Telugu film industry," he added.
Director Yata Satyanarayana, who is a protege of Raghavendra Rao, said that he is unfazed by negative comments against the movie. "This is our history. This is our pain. This is the agony and trauma experienced by our ancestors. This film is relevant not only to Indians but to all the oppressed communities across the world. I urge the media not to rate this movie. I won't mind it if you rate even zero for my upcoming movies," he added.
Producer Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the people of India have to be told about the history of Hyderabad. He suggested that he had gone ahead with making the film even though its budget spiraled out of control. "I did everything to tell history as it happened," he added.
Anasuya Bharadwaj, who will be seen in a crucial episode in the film, said that some people on YouTube have thought that there is no need to dig into the past. "That's the wrong way of looking at it. If that's the case, why do we celebrate our birthdays and festivals? Aren't they about the past?" she asked.
