Vijay Polaki Master on the Phenomenal Success of "Pushpa 2" Songs and His Journey as a Choreographer
Star choreographer Vijay Polaki Master expressed immense joy over the phenomenal response to his recent work in "Pushpa 2: The Rule," particularly the title song and the "Jathara" song. He considers these songs to be milestones in his career. In a recent press meet, he reflected on his journey and the overwhelming success of his choreography.
On enjoying the recent success:
"It feels great, and it also brings a sense of responsibility," Vijay shared. "I strive to give my best to every song I choreograph."
On his journey as a choreographer:
"I started seeking choreography opportunities while I was still a dancer," Vijay revealed. His first break came with the song "Aa Aa Ee Ee" from the film "Kobbarimatta." He then choreographed all the songs in "Palasa," with the "Nikkilisu Golu" song becoming a viral hit. His big break arrived with Allu Arjun and Sukumar's "Pushpa: The Rise."
"Sukumar garu and Bunny garu saw my profile and demos and called me in," he explained. "I choreographed and sent them 'Oo Antava Mava.' After receiving a call from their manager, I went to Bunny garu's studio, and rehearsals began. They had already finalized Ganesh Acharya Master, but after seeing my work, they convinced him to include me as a choreographer as well. There's been no looking back since."
For "Pushpa 2," Vijay received a call from Sukumar, which he hadn't anticipated. "Sukumar garu played the 'Jathara' song for me. Initially, they planned for it to be a short bit song, but after I choreographed the full song, they loved it and decided to go with it. After the success of that song, Bunny garu and Sukumar garu gave me the opportunity to choreograph the 'Pushpa Pushpa' title song as well. Sukumar garu emphasized that everything I did should stem from Pushpa's character."
On the "Jathara" song:
"I used to observe village festivals very closely during my childhood," Vijay shared. "When Sukumar garu explained the essence of the 'Jathara' song, I was deeply moved. The saree moment in the song resonated with many people. We prepared for this song for three months and shot it over 20 days. It was incredibly fulfilling to see everyone talking about the 'Jathara' song after watching the film."
He further added, "Bunny garu is an amazing performer. We gave 90%, and he elevated it to 100%. Sukumar garu wanted the choreography to be unconventional, like a trance, and he even demonstrated some moves himself."
On his strengths and aspirations:
Vijay expressed his versatility in choreographing various styles of songs and highlighted some of his recent superhits. He aspires to work with top stars like Chiranjeevi, NTR, and Ram Charan in the future.
On upcoming projects:
Vijay is currently working on several exciting projects, including "Saindhav" with Sai Dharam Tej, a film with Ram Pothineni, "Bheirava" with Bellamkonda Srinivas, "MAD 2," and a Hindi film titled "Baby."
