Renowned Tamil filmmaker S Shankar has had assets worth ₹10.11 crore provisionally attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to alleged plagiarism in his 2010 blockbuster film "Enthiran" (Robot).

The ED's investigation stemmed from a complaint alleging that the storyline of "Enthiran" was substantially similar to a story titled "Jiguba," written by Aarur Tamilnadan. The ED has seized three immovable properties belonging to Shankar under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED's findings reveal that Shankar received ₹11.5 crore for his directorial work on "Enthiran." An independent report commissioned by the ED confirmed significant similarities between the two stories, supporting the plagiarism allegations. This action by the ED marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the financial aspects of the alleged plagiarism.
