Former Australian cricketer David Warner is set to make his acting debut with a cameo appearance in the Telugu film "Robinhood". Starring Nithiin and Sreeleela and directed by Venky Kudumula, the film has been one of the most anticipated projects in Tollywood. Producer Ravi Shankar, who is behind the production of 'Pushpa' and other major hits under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, confirmed Warner's cameo during the pre-release event of GV Prakash’s upcoming film 'Kingston' in Hyderabad.
At the event, attended by Nithiin and Venky Kudumula, Ravi Shankar addressed rumors surrounding "Robinhood" and officially confirmed Warner’s involvement. “David Warner has made a cameo in the film, and it’ll be exciting,” he said, putting to rest the speculations that had been circulating.
David Warner, widely adored by Telugu audiences for his association with SunRisers Hyderabad, has long been a fan of Telugu cinema. His viral Instagram reels, in which he danced to songs from 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' and 'Pushpa', further boosted his popularity among Telugu fans. Warner filmed his cameo in September 2024 during the movie’s Australia shoot, sparking much buzz when he started following Nithiin and Venky Kudumula on social media.
'Kingston', GV Prakash Kumar’s upcoming film, which also stars him in the lead role, tells the story of a fisherman who challenges mysterious forces preventing villagers from going to sea. The film is set for a grand release on March 7.
Meanwhile, "Robinhood", initially scheduled for a December 2024 release, was delayed but is now set for a theatrical release on March 28. The film will feature Sreeleela opposite Nithiin, with music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. In addition to "Robinhood", Nithiin is also working on 'Thammudu', directed by Venu Sriram.
