Following what he described as extensive discussions facilitated by the United States, the individual who previously held the office of US President stated on Saturday via Truth Social that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire.”

In his post, he congratulated both nations for demonstrating "Common Sense and Great Intelligence" and thanked them for their attention to the matter.

This announcement follows a period of increased tensions between India and Pakistan, which escalated after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 people last month. India subsequently responded with ‘Operation Sindoor,’ reportedly targeting multiple terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Government sources claimed that over 100 terrorists were killed in these operations. The headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed were also said to be targeted.

Separately, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed that a ceasefire agreement had been reached with immediate effect. He conveyed on social media that Pakistan has consistently sought regional peace and security while upholding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that he and Vice President JD Vance had been in contact with high-ranking officials from both neighboring countries over the preceding two days to achieve this agreement.
