Jagan wants all parties to attend new Parliament opening

We have, earlier today, reported that BRS and YSRCP are not among the list of political parties that signed to oppose the opening of the new Parliament by PM Narendra Modi.

Just a while ago, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister tweeted regarding the issue and urged all political parties to take part in the opening of the new secretariat.

He tweeted, “I congratulate @narendramodi ji for dedicating the grand, majestic and spacious Parliament building to the nation. Parliament, being the temple of democracy, reflects our nation's soul and belongs to the people of our country and all the political parties. Boycotting such an auspicious event is not in the true spirit of democracy. Setting aside all political differences, I request that all political parties attend this glorious event. In the true spirit of democracy, my party will attend this historic event (sic).”

The decision to boycott attending the opening ceremony came in the wake of an announcement that said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would open the Parliament. However, as per the protocol, President of India is considered the head of the Nation. Lok Sabha Speaker and Vice President outrank the PM in the Parliament. Any one of them are supposed to open the new Parliament building.

While some lauded Jagan’s maturity and decision, many others opposed his tweet asking him to go through the protocol.
