CM Jagan is keen on having Vizag as the new capital. It is known that CM Jagan in order to have decentralized development across the state decided to have three capitals in Andhra Pradesh. He planned to continue Amaravathi as the capital and turn Kurnool and Visakhapatnam as the other two capitals.

However, opposition parties Chandra Babu Naidu's TDP and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena started putting a spanner on his dreams. In the midst of all this, AP Health Minister Vidadala Rajini during the review meeting of developmental activities in of Gajuwaka and Visakhapatnam North constituencies with the elected representatives and officials at the collectorate said that CM Jagan is keen on having Vizag as the new capital.

She said "The Chief Minister has been focusing on Visakhapatnam. Hence the developmental activities of these two constituencies were extensively discussed in today’s meeting. Issues related to revenue, GVMC, Nadu Nedu, Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam, etc came up for review.". She added "The students need not go to other states or abroad to pursue medical education. Medical colleges are provided in every district to give better health care to the people,’’

She concluded, "CM was mainly focusing on development and welfare and might very soon shift state administration to Visakhapatnam."
