Senior producer D Suresh Babu, whose father D Ramanaidu was a TDP MP, today clarified that the Telugu film industry has always been apolitical.
During a film promotion event, Suresh Babu was asked about the Telugu film industry's silence over the arrest of Nara Chandrababu Naidu by the YSRCP government. Asked if he would like to condemn the arrest, Suresh Babu iterated that people belonging to the film industry might have their individual political preferences but the industry per se can't be expected to take a stand on any political issue.
A senior journalist then asked Suresh Babu if Tollywood is not duty-bound to condemn the arrest given that Naidu "did a lot" for the industry. At this, Suresh Babu made it clear that a lot of governments have contributed to the growth of the film industry in Hyderabad for decades. "Nobody contributed more than NT Rama Rao garu and Chenna Reddy garu. Later CMs, including Naidu garu, too did help the industry grow," the supremo of Suresh Productions said.
