It is known that a girl named Bhavya Sri, a native of Penumuru, Chittoor district was found dead at a well near her village. The deceased person had been missing for a few days before she was found dead. The villagers spotted her body in the water during a Ganesh idol immersion drive. The police were called into action and the body was recovered. A case was filed when local YCP leaders insisted on the same. It was reported widely that Bhavya Sri had received love proposals from four boys but she rejected all of them. One of these boys persisted and she eventually accepted his proposal. The boy allegedly took her on his bike and then joined hands with the three boys whose proposal she had rejected. The four guys allegedly put Bhavya Sri through physical abuse and eventually dumped her body in the well. The social media trend #JusticeForBhavyaSri caught up like wildfire.
Recently, Chittoor Additional SP Sri Lakshmi said that the post-mortem of the girl's body was done in the presence of her family members. Since her parents had alleged a rape, samples were collected and sent to a lab in Tirupati for further investigation.
Hair loss and the wearing of the skin were owed to the fact that Bhavya Sri's body was submerged in water for three days. Her body was lifted from the water body in a technically sound manner so that no unwitting or accidental destruction of evidence took place. "We are carrying out the investigation with the single-minded aim of arriving at the truth. We found no visible injuries on her body," the cop said, urging everyone not to jump the gun.
The police department vehemently discouraged the cooking up of theories about the girl's shocking death.
