A leader is the one who doesn’t hesitate to take tough decisions, when required and this is what Jagan may be doing soon. If YSR Congress party president and AP chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy gets into the act this time, there are reports that at least one-third of his sitting MLA’s which also includes some ministers, may not get the seats for contesting next assembly elections.
Recently Jagan took part in a review meeting to assess the party’s performance and prospects during the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam workshop that was organized at his Tadepalli residence. Jagan reportedly revealed the details of a recent survey organized by Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) team regarding the MLAs performance, the results of which showed that more than 30 MLAs, including some key ministers haven’t performed as expected.
They now have very poor chances of winning their current seats again in case they don’t resort to immediate course correction in the next six months. Vidadala Rajini, Gummanuru Jayaram, Seediri Appala Raju, Jogi Ramesh and Gudivada Amarnath are among this list. Jagan reportedly issued a warning to these three dozen MLAs as well as ministers to correct their functioning and added that if there is another workshop to be held in March, he may take a tough call regarding tickets for them.
The biggest news is that Jagan would be declaring all the YSRCP candidates during the next workshop and hence a message has been passed to rank and file that the CM is taking things very seriously since the next assembly elections are hardly 16 months away. During this meeting, Jagan also reportedly appreciated many MLAs for doing their best in taking governance to people’s doors including party policies. The chief minister also instructed his MLAs to keep in touch with people and take up speedy resolution of problems.
With the opposition TDP and Jana Sena trying to cobble an alliance and challenge Jagan, the CM is taking no chances and he wants to ensure there is no complacency anywhere. Jagan is confident that his party will wrest power again and in this regard he doesn’t want to leave no stone unturned, including being very strict with those who are not performing according to the expectations. He is getting ready to deny seats to gross underperformers, come what may.
