Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan is making no bones of the fact that by hook or crook he wants to grab power in the next assembly elections. From one appearance in months, now he is making more than one appearance in a month and trying to show that he is really serious about politics. This presence is yet to enthuse his cadre who are still waiting for his firm dedication.
Now, he is again in the news for his indirect comments regarding alliances. Pawan stressed on the fact that TDP came to power in 2014 only because of alliance with Jana Sena and BJP. Stung by criticism he mentioned that he is not a slave to either BJP or TDP. He also added that YSRCP won in 2019 because there was no alliance among the opposition.
Now, he has thundered that no matter what he will defeat Jagan for sure and he will be part of the next government. Now, it is clear that he is hinting to the BJP that he doesn’t want to wait till the 2029 elections. BJP’s gameplan according to rumours is that it expects Jagan and TDP both to vanish by then, so that it can grab power.
At the same time, Pawan Kalyan is bargaining with TDP indirectly for now that he cannot be taken for granted and he needs to have prominence. But rather than this, political observers feel Pawan should focus on building the party and its organizational structure and then sit at the table to negotiate. Pawan knows that without TDP votes he cannot win as an MLA.
His loud proclamations that he will form government soon are only a strategy to increase his bargaining power with the TDP during an alliance formation. Hence, he is fielding his stakes carefully. Babu seems to be happy with an alliance but TDP leaders are warning that he shouldn’t compromise on the number of seats since Jana Sena may only add a few extra votes, but it is the TDP cadre that is next in strength after YSRCP cadre.
Looks like Pawan needs Babu more even though Babu too is keen to get him on board. However, Pawan being a hot potato some section of the TDP is averse to an alliance and they feel Babu should not fall into Pawan’s trap this time and lose good seats or leaders.
