Every political party in our country needs a lot of financial resources and a strong backing to carry on activities, organize workers and events and spend during elections. The source is donations from large corporate houses, rich bigwigs and membership subscriptions from workers. Not everyone can pay everything from their own pocket.
Even Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan needs these resources to fund the party properly and run it effectively. According to the National Election Watch and Association of Democratic Rights, Jana Sena received around Rs 29 crore until the year 2020 and this is now growing much more.
The party also operates a separate account for donations exclusively. Pawan’s leaders claim that his help to tenant farmers who committed suicide has been from his own pocket and now he is unable to even pay income tax. Well, no party is not a one show and the Jana Sena should clarify how much they collected so far and what they are using it for transparently. The donations could swell easily to tens of crores and the party should reveal this first than conveying that Pawan is spending everything on his own.
