The world of politics is mired in controversies, mudslinging, scathing attacks on opponents and in recent years things have gotten personal too. While the future of the quality of politicians is a big concern, there are still those individuals who seem to be keen to make a difference. The name of former CBI director J D Lakshminarayana can be counted in it. He contested in the last election from Vizag and his credibility can be seen as he was able to get nearly 2.88 lakh votes.
Now, the time for the next election is approaching and it is now announced from JD’s team that he is going to fight solo. Those who heard this are saying perhaps JD should take a page or two from Pawan Kalyan’s journey and learn from it. Incidentally, JD has contested on behalf of Jana Sena. For starters, JD needs to roll out a proper election manifesto for the people of Vizag unlike Pawan whose speeches never speak of manifesto or a vision.
Secondly, Pawan has the habit of making political appearances for a while and he suddenly disappears either to complete his film commitments or something else. Hence, JD’s well wishers say consistency is the key and he needs to mingle more with the public, hold interactive sessions at regular intervals and try to understand the issues being faced.
Since it is almost confirmed that JD is going to contest as an independent, it is obvious that he would not be having any financial assistance from any parties. However, the sad truth remains that unless money is spent, the canvassing cannot happen in the way it should. Hence, as much as JD wants to fight the election righteously he also needs to find a way to fund the campaign substantially.
Pawan Kalyan has a strong following among the youth but it never got converted into votes. On the other hand, JD has been a true inspiration to the youngsters and his motivational talks have also helped them to a large extent. So, unlike Pawan whose speeches are more emotion driven than proper roadmap, JD is being advised to approach the youth with a specific goal and a role and leverage his influence among this section of voters. With barely a year or so for the elections to arrive, it remains to be seen whether JD will learn from the mistakes made by Pawan and change his approach or not.
