Currently, the summer in Hyderabad is severe and people who are used to air conditioners find it tough to cope with the heat. However, YS Sharmila had to spend 20 days in prison without any air conditioning after being arrested by the Hyderabad Police while attempting to stage a protest at the SIT office about the paper leak case.
She was outraged during the incident and was seen slapping a female police officer and manhandling an SI. Consequently, she was produced in court, and the Nampally High Court ordered her to serve a 20-day remand for manhandling police officers on duty. Sharmila claimed during court proceedings that police officers arrived at her residence without a warrant or prior notice, and that she pushed them away in self-defense as they were attempting to touch her.
Sharmila will remain in Cherlapally Jail until May 8th, and it remains to be seen if she will gain any advantages from her imprisonment.
