'Balagam', one of the biggest hits of the year, was released in March. The film, directed by Venu Yeldandi, continues to inspire conversations.
On Saturday, KTR invoked the sleeper hit to make a political point against Congress. In his address on the floor of the Assembly, the BRS leader said that there was a time when filmmakers would shoot movies in Telangana if they had to show poverty and economic backwardness.
"During the Congress regime, parcels of land in villages used to be cheap. Today, their value has gone up by multiple times. Recently, I watched 'Balagam' with my family members. The beautiful locations of Konaraopeta Mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla's Vemulawada were awesome in the movie. After the movie was over, my family members asked me if it was really shot in Konaraopeta and not Konaseema," KTR said, adding that a sea change has come about in Telangana under KCR's rule.
"The impact of 'Balagam' speaks volumes. Thank you, KTR garu, for acknowledging our efforts and encouraging us to push our boundaries," wrote Dil Raju Productions.
