On Monday, the Election Commission of India declared that the elections to the Telangana Assembly will be held on November 30. This has brought relief to the producers and distributors of Telugu cinema.
A few important films are scheduled to be released in the first half of December. The producers of these movies were waiting for the ECI to announce the election date(s) so that they would know whether their December releases would be affected. Now that the polls will be over earlier than expected, Tollywood won't need to restrategize and rejig any planned release dates.
After the recent postponement of 'Salaar' to December 22, filmmakers are looking at either Sankranthi 2024 or the first half of December this year to release their movies. Nani's 'Hi Nanna' and Nithiin's 'Extra - Ordinary Man' are the ones that might be released on December 8. One of them might hit the screens a little later.
