A historic sporting celebration kicked off at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, as Global Star Ram Charan grandly launched the Archery Premier League (APL). Thousands of enthusiastic fans gathered to witness the spectacular inauguration.
Ram Charan's Charismatic Presence
Amidst the massive crowd, Ram Charan performed the traditional Ravan Dahan (burning of Ravana effigy), electrifying the audience. Ram Charan, who has carved a niche for himself with films like Magadheera, Rangasthalam, and the Oscar-winning RRR, won hearts on stage with his affectionate demeanor.
Speaking at the event, Ram Charan expressed his delight:
"It is a pleasure to host the world's first-ever premier league for archers, not just in India, but globally. We must encourage every sportsperson, and every archer. The focus, discipline, and strength required in this sport are truly commendable. We must all stand strong in support of this league's success."
The inauguration ceremony featured cultural performances, the unveiling of the league anthem, team walkouts, and the Ravan Dahan ceremony led by Ram Charan, which was the special highlight.
A Visionary Sporting Event
Anil Kamineni, the visionary Chairman of the Archery Premier League, successfully brought together the Archery Association of India, World Archery, World Archery Asia, and the Indian Ministry of Sports to realize this dream. Under his leadership, the APL is positioning itself not just as a sports league but as a cultural celebration blended with world-class competition.
With six franchise teams, 36 top Indian archers, and 12 international stars competing in this new format for the first time under lights at the Yamuna Sports Complex (October 2–12, 2025), the APL is setting a new direction for archery and establishing a fresh identity for Indian sports.
