Director Mohan G of the upcoming historical drama Draupathi 2 has publicly urged singer Chinmayi Sripaada to either clarify her recent comments about the first single EmKoney (Telugu version: Nelaraaje) or delete her tweet, amid growing backlash over her involvement.
Chinmayi issued an apology post-release, stating she was unaware of the film's ideological stance during recording and would have opted out if informed earlier. Mohan G countered that he personally selected her for the track, conducted the session without the composer's presence, and limited discussions to vocal style alone—without delving into context or themes.
Expressing surprise at her unverified statement, the director questioned her mention of "contradictory ideologies," noting her surname Sripaada reflects cultural faith ties. He requested she seek clarification from him or the team before commenting publicly.
Mohan G also appealed to fans and critics to direct all flak at him personally, calling attacks on cast/crew "cowardice" and emphasizing team protection.
