Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings have partnered with Japanese distributors Geek Pictures and Shochiku to bring the record-breaking blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule to Japan. The film, led by Icon Star Allu Arjun as the commanding Pushpa Raj, will premiere in theatres on January 16, 2026, under the localized title Pushpa Kunrin.
The announcement came with a warm Japanese greeting — “Konnichiwa, Nihon no Tomo yo” (Hello, friends of Japan) — accompanied by a specially dubbed Japanese trailer and eye-catching posters showcasing Allu Arjun's signature swagger. Originally released worldwide on December 5, 2024, in five Indian languages, Pushpa 2 shattered box office records, grossing over ₹1,800 crore globally and earning "industry hit" status.
Directed by Sukumar, the sequel features Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead and Fahadh Faasil as the intense cop antagonist, with pulsating music by Devi Sri Prasad. Allu Arjun has humbly credited director Sukumar for the film's triumph. The narrative's international elements, including Japan-set sequences like the Yokohama port action block, add cultural resonance for Japanese audiences.
Japan's growing fandom for Telugu cinema — boosted by hits like RRR, Devara, and Kalki 2898 AD — positions Pushpa 2 for strong performance, with trade experts anticipating significant buzz if Allu Arjun promotes there.
