Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, headlined by Yash, continues to expand its dark, hypnotic universe with the introduction of Rukmini Vasanth as Mellisa, a character defined by grace, steel, and unwavering focus. Positioned as a big-scale action drama with psychological depth, the film grows more layered with every new reveal.

This marks a striking collaboration between Rukmini Vasanth, Yash, and filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, whose distinct visual and emotional language is shaping Toxic into a cinematic event with global ambition. Rukmini, known for intelligence-led performances and emotional precision, appears poised to deliver a role that thrives within Geetu’s textured storytelling and Yash’s vision of taking Indian cinema to international standards in scale and soul.

Mellisa: Poised, Powerful, and Unshaken

Following the impactful first looks of Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, Nayanthara as Ganga, and Tara Sutaria as Rebecca, the reveal of Mellisa adds yet another compelling female force to Toxic’s ensemble of complex women.

Set in the middle of a vibrant, smoky late-1960s party, Mellisa is framed as the one person in the room who is completely in control. While others drift in a haze of music and excess, she cuts through the chaos with a calm, piercing gaze and a stride that owns the floor. Elegant yet unflinching, she exudes an energy that suggests someone who reads every room, misses nothing, and never loses herself in the noise.

Geetu Mohandas on Rukmini Vasanth’s Craft

Director Geetu Mohandas speaks of Rukmini with deep admiration, highlighting the actor’s intellect and process-oriented approach:

She doesn’t just act; she absorbs, analyses, and then expresses. Her questions are born from curiosity, not doubt, and they often push the creative conversation to a deeper place. Between takes, Geetu often finds Rukmini quietly journaling, capturing thoughts and observations that quietly feed into her performance. That reflective inner world, Geetu notes, is what allows Mellisa to feel layered, lived-in, and powerfully understated on screen.

A Pan-World Vision Backed by a Stellar Team

Co-written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Geetu, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and other languages, reinforcing its pan-India and global positioning.

The film is powered by an exceptional crew:

  • Cinematography: National Award winner Rajeev Ravi

  • Music: Ravi Basrur

  • Editing: Ujwal Kulkarni

  • Production Design: TP Abid

  • Action Choreography: Hollywood action director JJ Perry (John Wick), alongside Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee

Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is slated for a grand theatrical release on 19 March 2026, aligning with Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa, and is firmly positioned as one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026.
