"Thimmarajupalli TV is a Gripping Suspense Drama": Director V. Muniraju on His Directorial Debut
The upcoming period drama "Thimmarajupalli TV" is creating a buzz as it prepares for its worldwide theatrical release on April 17th. Backed by KA Productions and Sumaira Studios, the film is produced by popular actor Kiran Abbavaram alongside co-producer Teja Velpucharla. Introducing Sai Tej and Veda Jalandharr as the lead protagonists, debutant director V. Muniraju recently shared his journey and the inspiration behind this rustic thriller.
A Dream Realized: The Journey to the Director’s Chair
For V. Muniraju, directing was a long-held ambition that nearly got sidelined by his professional work in online editing. To reclaim his dream, he took a bold step:
-
The Demo: He returned to his native village to film a demo with locals, which eventually caught the attention of Kiran Abbavaram during the shoot of the film Meter.
-
The Producer's Nod: Impressed by the demo and the script's raw potential, Kiran Abbavaram encouraged Muniraju to develop it into a full-length feature, marking the beginning of KA Productions' involvement.
The Nostalgia of Village Life and the Arrival of Television
Set against a Rayalaseema backdrop, the film is deeply rooted in the director's childhood memories.
-
The Core Theme: The story revolves around the arrival of the first television in a village—an event that once felt as grand as opening a cinema hall.
-
Universal Appeal: Muniraju believes the film will resonate with anyone over 40 who experienced that era, while Gen Z viewers will find the forgotten traditions and lifestyle of the time "fresh and intriguing."
-
Authenticity: The movie was filmed entirely in real locations within the director's home village, Thimmarajupalli, including all musical sequences.
A "Pure Suspense" Experience
While the setting is nostalgic, the genre is a hard-hitting suspense drama.
-
Edge-of-the-Seat Narrative: The director promises that the mystery will keep audiences guessing until the very end, concluding with a powerful emotional payoff.
-
Realistic Filmmaking: Drawing inspiration from raw, naturalistic cinema like Sairat and Satya, the film features impressive technical feats, including single-take scenes lasting up to seven minutes.
-
Technical Excellence: Despite being a "small" film, it boasts high-end production values, including Atmos sound and unique musical compositions by Vamsikanth Rekhana.
Empowering New Talent
The cast features a blend of newcomers and seasoned theater artists from the Surabhi group. Muniraju credits his producer's unwavering faith as the backbone of the project. "Having a producer like Kiran Abbavaram is a blessing. His trust in a new-age filmmaking effort like ours will hopefully open doors for more fresh talent in the industry," he stated.
