The highly anticipated mythological film 'Shaakunthalam' starring Samantha as the lead, is scheduled to release on April 14th. The movie has been promoted  extensively by the team, including Samantha, Gunasekhar and Dil Raju, who all expressed confidence in the film's content. In fact, special premieres were arranged four days prior to the release date, which showcased the film to select audiences.

However, rumors began to spread that the premieres had been cancelled, and the media screening had been called off as well, indicating that the makers may have had second thoughts about the film. Gunasekhar, the director of the movie, was quick to dispel these rumors and clarify the situation. He stated that the premieres were not cancelled and that the media screening was only postponed due to technical difficulties.

According to Gunasekhar, he watched the 3D version of the film on March 10th, along with a few audience members and media persons. During the screening, he identified a few issues that needed to be addressed before the movie could be released. As a result, the premieres were cancelled, but only in Hyderabad while screenings in Mumbai and Delhi are going ahead. This clarification by Guna Shekar is not convincing many who feel that the director's confidence may have
taken a hit due to the falling buzz over Shaakunthalam ahead of its impending release due to a flawed narration or overhyped output.
