Mani Ratnam's 2004 film "Yuva" featuring top actors Siddharth, Madhavan, and Surya, set a trend for college backdrop films. The movie, based on the Mexican film "Amores Perros," revolves around three people with different mindsets. Surya's portrayal of a rebel activist college student, inspired by Osmania University's George Reddy, was notable.

The film's unique screenplay, A.R. Rahman's music, and Ravi K. Chandran's cinematography, along with Sreekar Prasad's editing, received critical acclaim. Now, Mani Ratnam is reportedly producing a sports-themed movie with Madhavan-Siddharth and Nayanthara. The film will mark the directorial debut of producer Shashikanth, and it will be made with a nerve-wracking screenplay in the background of a cricket drama.

Interestingly, it will focus on Test cricket, unlike other cricket-themed movies. The makers are considering the title "The Test" for the film. This is the second time Madhavan and Siddharth are working together after "Rang De Basanti," and it is their third collaboration overall. Nayanthara recently started shooting for her latest movie with debutant Nilesh Krishna.
