'Adipurush' has angered a number of Hindu organizations ever since it was released recently. Already, at least two Hindu outfits have filed PILs against the epic movie.
In the latest video to surface on the Internet, the Prabhas-starrer was disrupted while it was being exhibited in a multiplex theatre in Maharashtra's Palghar on Sunday. A few men belonging to an unnamed Hindu outfit had a verbal spat with the theatre management. A male person is heard saying in the video that the "insult to our gods and goddesses" won't be tolerated.
A film that has been certified for public screening by the CBFC shouldn't be targeted by mobs. Nobody has the authority to use force to avert a film's screening.
The makers of 'Adipurush' have already agreed to modify some controversial lines in the movie, bowing to Hindu sentiments. The changes should reflect as soon as possible across all theatres.
The film, directed by Om Raut, has generated more heat than light. On social media, there is this narrative that the epic Ramayana has been distorted. The sanctity of the Hindu religion has been respected, as per the makers.
