Director Meher Ramesh recently said that the Tamil film 'Vedalam' (2015) had numerous cringe-y scenes in it. He added that he omitted those scenes in remaking it as 'Bholaa Shankar'.
The Tollywood filmmaker's unflattering comments offended Ajith's fans, who trolled him badly on social media. On Tuesday evening, Meher tried to do some damage control by saying that he actually loved 'Vedalam'.
"I admired how the original story by Siva sir showed strong bonding of a brother and sister, a sentiment that reflects with millions of people and wanted to show it our telugu audience," Meher wrote.
He also spoke of his admiration towards Ajith. "In 2009, I remade Ajith sir’s 'Billa' with Darling Prabhas and now again I am grateful for the opportunity to do Ajith Sir’s Action entertainer," he added.
'Bholaa Shankar' is scheduled to hit the screens on August 11. It stars Keerthy Suresh as the Megastar's sister.
