'Baahubali' Vs 'KGF': The trend-setter is NOT Prabhas' film

The scale of Indian films is believed to have changed with SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Beginning', which hit the screens in the year 2015. The staggering success of 'Baahubali 2' made the brand even bigger but most analysts have missed something crucial.

The 'KGF' films are what most filmmakers seem to be in awe of. Columnist and blogger Kartik Dayanand opines that 'KGF: Chapter 1' is the actual game-changing outing. "The types of stories and heroics that are being showcased today are all offsprings of 'KGF' in some form or the other. The idea of an invincible violent action hero, set in a retro time period, is a direct outcome of KGF's stupendous success," he writes.

To back his viewpoint, Dayanand gives a few examples. "Prabhas' 'Salaar' is a direct offspring of the 'KGF' movies, Pawan Kalyan's 'OG' looks similar in treatment, Upendra's 'Kabzaa' tried the same in the past, 'Pushpa' has traces of the same (rise of the underdog), and Nani's 'Dasara' had traces of 'Pushpa' in it. Ravi Teja's 'Tiger Nageshwar Rao' is similar stuff," he says.

It is indeed true that director Prashanth Neel is the real trendsetter. Nobody expects big heroes like Pawan to do a 'Baahubali'. We all expect superstars to do a 'KGF', though. See the difference?
