AR Rahman's concert in Chennai on Sunday has produced a flurry of angry reactions. The concert was organized in a reckless manner, leaving the guests high and dry. Even though the ticket prices were extremely high, the legendary musician's concert was devastatingly poor in terms of management.
"I got trampled and had a full-blown anxiety attack and a breakdown even though I bought Gold tickets. I cannot begin to imagine what others went through," wrote Lakshita Shankar, one of the attendees of the notorious concert.
"The organization was poor and the tickets were oversold. I was in the VIP section. People from the Platinum section broke into our section, threw bottles, and splashed water on us. Me and my fam had to leave immediately," wrote another attendee.
Since some people paid Rs 20,000 but had to wait outside the venue for hours (because the overcrowding didn't let them in), they have been demanding a refund from the organizers. Hundreds of social media users are tagging Rahman, requesting him to speak to the organizers and mete out justice. "Hope he severs all ties with the greedy organizers who took the fans for a royal ride," a Twitter user wrote.
A stampede-like situation ensued because there was alleged overselling of tickets.
